Useful for the regime. Insulate Britain appear to be the states sweethearts.
Protest is like anything else, unless you have elite support for it already, you will not get any change from doing it. We have seen this countless times in the UK where something has the support of the people, but nothing is done from it.
During the reign of the Labourite tory, Tony Blair, we had protests against the Iraq war. From left to right, I knew of people who said the war was false from the start.
[As well as the] usual suspects — CND, Socialist Workers Party, the anarchists … There were nuns. Toddlers. Women barristers. The Eton George Orwell Society. Archaeologists Against War. Walthamstow Catholic Church, the Swaffham Women’s Choir and Notts County Supporters Say Make Love Not War (And a Home Win against Bristol would be Nice). They won 2–0, by the way. One group of SWP stalwarts were joined, for the first march in any of their histories, by their mothers. There were country folk and lecturers, dentists and poulterers, a hairdresser from Cardiff and a poet from Cheltenham.

Regardless of the showing, and the shocking amount of people that actually walked the streets during these protests — we will engaged in a 20-year war with America in the middle east.
Nothing won, a lot lost, countless problems.
Given this knowledge, and the crackdown that we see happens to protesters when they’re not giving the state the narratives it would like.
We can see this with events like the Sarah Everard vigil in London, that even protected classes — or better known to my contemporaries as “the clientele class” — of the state will feel its displeasure when they step out of line. So we can dismiss with any concept that it’s purely realpolitik (That arresting this group would offend sensibilities).
What would we do to people who were very worried about their liberties being trampled by an overzealous government?
Surely, even in a time of emergency, it is normal for people to be sceptical and want to demonstrate their numbers and objections to something given no rightful debate was taking place in any institutions?
No. Obviously not.
Whilst I think it’s a little much to pretend like the dire warnings from Americans about how bad it’s getting in the UK, I’d kindly recommend to them to focus their attentions on NY State and other very questionable states/local areas of their Union that have enacted some pretty striking rules. Even during the times of the mask mandates in England, there was a wide-open opt-out simply by stating that you are exempt.
I do not believe a protest can bring about any meaningful action. I would not support or attend one, and my liberties (aside from going to the pub) remained entirely intact throughout Covid.
Lockdowns were entirely ephemeral and existed only in the minds of people who allow the Government to dictate to them.
Shops, clubs, sitting in your favourite McBurger place, all meaningless consumeristic behaviour. Whilst I support capitalism, I must remind you all about the benefits of self-control, self-reliance, and not clapping for the first person into the Apple store.
Simply by not engaging with the issue, you could have overcome it. No need to protest lockdowns. They were always fake. At least in the UK.
What do we know so far?
State force as a response is not just limited to dissidents. It is also used against those who are well within the Overton window — or are in fact, a clientele class of the regime.
Taking a look at the data graphed from Statista and the UK Govt.
85% of UK homes are fully double glazed, 50% with wall insulation, and 38% with loft insulation.
I’ll leave you to decide if that’s a good number of homes to be insulated. However, a question that I think I should raise to your attention is; why is my house the business of the state?
As the old adage goes, “An Englishman’s home is his castle” — granted I am not an Englishman, I believe this language dates back to the time where the intention was that the Welsh were also English, and the Scots be damned, so let’s just pretend I am included.
If my home truly is my castle, then it’s none of your business if I have insulation in the attic or not. It is not up for public debate. It is my attic. If I wish for it to be insulated, then so it will be.
In reality, it appears to be another state system that demands more and more to look inside your private life and determine for you what is correct.
As we can see from decisions made about Grenfell Tower on the correct insulation that should be installed, or if any should be installed at all. It tends to turn into a nightmare situation. That same insulation was installed all over the UK. It cost a substantial amount to fit, and then remove once we became aware of the danger.
Keeping in mind that Grenfell was announced in 2012 and conducted over 2015–2016, with multiple objections from the little people who lived there, we can see why we also don’t listen to experts who expertly advise that the people who could have escaped the tower stay inside and wait to be saved. Thanks, experts.
A little journey for anyone reading this, look up the problems with all the different programs that have happened in the UK to insulate buildings. There are accounts of council estates having multiple cavity wall fillings installed and removed because the “Wrong type was installed”.
A question I have for anyone who supports this movement is, why?
Why would you want the people who have delivered us amazing programs that have destroyed so many buildings and cultural heritage to continue to do new programs?
Why would you think that this is an organic movement, given it has been given the lightest touch by the police and other institutions?
One question does still remain, why do they want this protest?
A dear friend and work cohort of mine has suggested it’s because of embarrassment. I’m not sure I can engage that as an explanation. Surely if it’s just that it would look bad to the world that we would lock up people causing public disorder on a pertinent issue then questions on a case where a Police Officer (A literal state enforcer) had raped, murdered, and burned a young lady using the sweeping Covid powers would have been one?
Remember protest only works when your opinion helps the people in power do what they have already decided to do. As it was in the past, it is today the same.
So what have they decided to do?
